History
There has been a very loosely organized Christian libertarian group by the name of Christlib in existence since the fall of 1994. That's when the original email discussion list was started by Bruce Baugh. The list was quite active as late as 2005 and is mechanically still functional but has fallen into such a quiet state that one would wonder why it is still in place. Management of the list passed on to Dar Scott for a while and then to Bill Reveile. Bill is still the maintainer of the dormant list today. Bill acquired the Christlib.net domain name on March 17th, 2007.
Bill had visited Wikipedia trying to look up Christian libertarianism and was dismayed to find himself immediately directed to an article on Christian Anarchism. He decided there was a need for a separate article on Christian libertarianism and started working on creating one. The following questions immediately arose. What body of literature could be cited in the article? Where would one look for official information? Was there a place one could look that was like an index of everything Christian libertarian?
Perhaps some of these things exist but Bill was not satisfied with what he found. One of the Christlib list members suggested that perhaps Christian libertarianism would have to be defined in terms of what could be found in our very own Christlib list archives. From that unlikely origin Bill decided it would be a good idea if somebody created a web site.
Creating a Christian libertarianism article on Wikipedia is still on the list of things to do but we are now convinced it is important to get this project started. We intend to create a reference and index of everything Christian libertarian. If there already is one, then we couldn't really find it
